Texas Pecan Tarts
Here’s our mini version of pecan pie, the official dessert of Texas. These sweet and nutty bites perfectly combine everything you love about pecan pie, only in smaller form. They have a buttery shell and a sweet, slightly gooey center with lots of chopped pecans (and maybe a decorative sole pecan on top). Delicious and easy to transport, mini pecan tarts are one of our favorite tart recipes. They’re excellent for dinner dates, potlucks and bake sales!
Oklahoma Cranberry Fluff
Cranberry fluff is one of many staple Oklahoma recipes. The cranberries here are mixed up with assorted fruits, nuts, marshmallows and whipped cream, all coming together in a no-bake dessert that’s approachable for just about any home cook in search of ideas for a backyard party, neighborhood picnic or potluck.
Arizona Sopaipillas
Sopaipillas are a traditional Mexican dessert and a holiday tradition in many Arizona homes. Our sopapilla recipe uses a short list of ingredients to create squares of enriched dough that crisp up to perfection in a deep fryer. Serve sopapillas warm right out of the frier with honey or confectioners’ sugar for a touch of sweetness.
Utah Buttermilk Scones
Utah scones are far from our idea of classic scones. They’re deep-fried pieces of dough that are more closely related to French beignets or American doughnuts. Each Utah scone is soft, puffy, fluffy and fried to golden perfection, and the only way to make it taste even better is by serving it alongside honey butter, its staple sidekick!
New Mexico Chicken Tamales
Tamales are a time-honored food--beloved in many New Mexico homes--that anyone can learn to make. Though this recipe for chicken tamales takes some time to prep and assemble, the steps are fairly straightforward. It also promises a big payoff: Your freezer will be full of steamed corn bundles filled with chili-spiced chicken. They can be eaten on their own or paired with Mexican-inspired side dishes like rice and beans.
